Trip highlights

  Incredible panoramic views

Camels, sheep, birds and bugs to see along the way

A great half day challenge to reach the summit

A suitable entry level challenge before attempting longer duration, higher altitude hikes in RAK

First following a scenic route through a flat, dry wadi bed which leads into labyrinthe-like area where we continue for around 1-2 hours until the foot of the Shawka hills.

There we begin to ascend on a suitably moderate path to a viewpoint. From the viewpoint the path becomes very steep and slippy with a lot of loose scree.

This section is challenging for most and is not recommended without proper hiking footwear. However it is well worth the effort once you reach the summit and have uninterrupted 360 degree views of the Shawka hills.
