Introduction to OUTDOOR Rock Climbing (LEVEL 1)

This is an opportunity for those new to outdoor rock climbing to get familiarized with some of the basic equipment and techniques used in the sport. You will have an opportunity to strap on the harness and climb your way up the rocks. If you are new to the sport or looking to get back into it after an extended break this would be a great trip for you.

PROGRAM

We will be climbing from morning to afternoon. The location of the meeting point will be shared to the participants before the event starts.

The timing proposed in the event, is weather and conditions dependent. 

In this event, we will learn:

• Familiarity with climbing on real rock 
• Climbing techniques
• Overview and training with the all the gear involved in the activity
• Hot to make a knot to your harness
• Belay a partner
• Confidence with heights
• Wildernes risks and mitigations
• Descent from a wall

INCLUDED IN THE FEE 

Certified Rock Climbing Instructor for the whole day and necesary gear for the activity.

TRANSPORTATION 

You need to reach the start location with your own car.

If you don't have a car, there will always be people joining from Dubai or Abu Dhabi and they can car pool you.

WHAT TO BRING

You will need to bring lunch, snacks, water, drinks, etc for the day. You should also dress appropriately for being outdoors whether you prefer long sleeve, short sleeve shirts, shorts/pants, is your own preference. We still will climb if cold and even if rain is not too much. Also bring appropriate sun protection, i.e. sunscreen, lip balm, sun hat, sunglasses.

You should have sturdy shoes for walking in the wadi to the crag but you may want sandals or flip flops while hanging around at the crag in between climbs. I also recommend to bring a camping chair so you can sit and relax when not climbing or belaying.

If you have climbing shoes, harness, helmet please bring them. If you don't have climbing shoes then plan to wear solid sneakers or hiking shoes. weak/flimsy shoes will be no good and neither will big, bulky hiking boots. If you don't have a harness or helmet I will have extras on hand. All other gear and equipment will be provided.

There is no toilette at the site, therefore make sure you make a stop before arriving to the event.
