Lost Village of Haqeel - Sunset Hike

The small village Haqeel is certainly an off the beaten path hike. Often called also "lost village" as it's nested over a hidden plateau, that opens up after a short but steep climb.

In less than 10 km hike, the landscape will vary from steep wadies, canyons to a mountain plantations, stone houses, all along winding trails.

The hike takes you through a dry canyon leading to the hidden old settlement of Haqeel, providing a glimpse into how the older mountain tribes of Ras Al Khaimah lived within the rocky mountain walls.

During cooler months, the valley blossoms with flowers and green grass due to significant rainfall1. The trail offers stunning views of the Al Rams coastal line and the inner mountain face of Jebel Jais.

ROUTE

Total Ascent 550m Distance 8 Km Time: 3-4 hours for the loop

WHAT TO BRING

1. Backpack
2. 3-4 liters of water
3. Snacks (oranges, apple, dates, protein bar), electrolytes, sandwiches
4. Hiking boots or trainer with good grip sole
5. Hiking pants, tights, shorts, dry fit t-shirt, small towel
6. Head lamp
7. Wipes, sunscreen lotion and sanitizer
8. Hat and sunglass
9. Hiking poles (optional)
10. Personal basic Aid kit (Advil, band-aid, antiseptic, etc)
11. Extra shirt, towel, flip-flops (for after the hike)
