Oman Grand Canyon Hike

This hike, takes you on a 4km long trail (8km loop), all across the edge of the biggest canyon in Oman (Wadi Ghul, aka Grand Canyon of Oman). It’s one of the most incredible hikes in Oman, starting from the top plateau of Jebel Shams standing at 2000m altitude, offering spectacular views of world below and some surrounding mountains like Jebel Misht standing

The hike starts and returns to the little house settlement of Al Khitaym. Following towards the end of the trail, we will reach some abandoned houses and fields. After this, we will walk onwards to a small waterfall, the end of the trail, and then turn back.

THE JOURNEY FROM UAE

If you come to UAE, few of us will be driving Friday evening, reaching a camping place and doing the Snake Canyon on Friday. Takes about 5 hours to reach from Dubai.

Then we will be going camping on Jebel Shams plateu, to be ready for Saturday event.

THE PROGRAM

It takes about 2-3 hours to complete the hike, which is on fairly easy terrain,

• 8am meeting at a designated meeting point, start the hike
• 1pm back to the cars, to drive back to Dubai

WHAT TO BRING

1. Small backpack
2. 2-3 liters of water
3. Snacks (oranges, apple, dates, protein bar), electrolytes
4. Trail running shoes (Trainer with good grip sole) or hiking boots
5. Hiking pants, tights, shorts, dryfit t-shirt, small towel
6. Wipes, sunscreen lotion and sanitizer
7. Hat and sunglass
