Ras Al Khaimah Hiking - Wadi Ghalilah Balcony Walk to Waterfall

The notorious Stairway to Heaven hike on the left side of this wadi is an extreme adventure and not for the faint hearted. However, this hike on the the right side of the wadi is safer and offers the similar views and experience, without the dangerous exposure.

 The trail goes up 700m to a dry waterfall,past a scenic  balcony walk. and is an excellent test of your cardiovascular fitness. Depending on the group level, we have the choice to continue further to some settlements towards the ridge until we can see the Arabian Gulf. 

This route is a challenging and demandingwalk, but do-able by anyone in is of a moderate fitness level.

 

Please note that mobile reception is limited throughout. No overnight camp;

no passport required.

Hike difficulty: Moderate. Not suitable for beginner hikers. There is some elevation gain, so is a good workout for your lungs. Please also note that there is a 200-300m balcony walk with a large 50m drop on one side (the walkway is 2m wide and flat). While safe, this trek is not suitable for you if you are afraid of heights.

Please note that if it rains, we will be doing an alternate trek.

Hiking and Gear  Requirements by Participants

- Hiking boots. Running Shoes not acceptable

- Trekking poles - Recommended

- T-shirt/ Sport  shirt  with wicking material 

- Sunglasses & Hat

- Minimum 4L of Water recommended and hydration drinks/rehydration tablets

- Sunscreen

- Snacks/nuts/fruit/energy bars and a packed lunch

- A small backpack

- Extra clothes for the way home

- 4x4 car is not required

- Camera

- Sense of Humour :D
